Blogging Book Goal- Book #11

For my eleventh book, I think you need to understand the background a little bit.

You see, two weeks ago, I was visiting my parents in Nashville, TN, and had brought my husband's *favorite* fiction book of all time, Shogun. I had decided that I was going to read it and so that way I would understand his love for this series a little. Well, I read it on the plane, and read it in TN, and finally, only 150 pages into the 1200 page book, I closed it.

It was BAD! Curse words up the wazoo! And scenes that I did not need to be reading about.

When I called my husband he said "really? I don't remember any of that!" and then we figured out it had been almost 8 years since he had read them, and 8 years ago, he was going through his "rebellious," stage.

Hence, the bad book.

So, while shopping with my momma and sister, we went into a book outlet (yes! it was as neat as it sounds!) and I picked up this book for 2.99:

The Scarlet Pimpernel! by Baroness Emmuska Orczy

Yes, that says "Baroness."

I wish I was a baroness.

But that's beside the point.

THIS book was highly recommended to my by my momma, who read it in high school.

The premise of the book is this: Set during the time of the French Revolution, a band of Englishmen are making it their duty to rescue and save the "innocent," french noblemen and their families. They do not believe that these people's blood should be shed so unjustly and are led in their efforts by a valiant man, who, wishing to stay anonymous, signs all of his letters with a Scarlet Pimpernel ( a British flower.)

I won't say much more, except that the idea for the story is that you are trying to figure out who this scarlet pimpernel is, before his french enemies do!

It was a great read. Honestly. It has come to top my list of favorite fiction books! Intrigue, humor, and an intricate plot all makes this book a inner in my eyes.

Plus, it's written by a baroness. How can you lose?

I will tell you this: don't read any "about the authors," that the book may include before you read. Because, if it's anything like mine, it gives away who the Scarlet Pimpernel is before you even begin!

I can't wait to read it again. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Also, would you like to be called Baroness Brittney Galloway in the future? It has a nice ring to it. What does that make me? Baroness Momma??

I watched the movie based on this book once... granted... it was about 10 years ago... but I thought it was pretty good!
