Is It Really Art?

Has anyone else really look at their elementary school art? Or rather, looked at their spouse's or friend's elementary school art? Aren't you just wondering.....what in the world was I thinking?

Yesterday, when going through my pictures, I came across some pictures of my art from K - 5th.

Now, some of it's pretty good.

(I liked art. Like, alot. Thought I don't actually remember having an art class for 3rd-5th because my school was wacky and liked to leave important things out, like art. And math. No joke.)

But some of it.... well, I'm just a little perplexed.

Obviously, that's a self portrait.

Duh.

I had a slight Raggedy Anne Doll obsession. It was quite possibly fueled by my mother who gave my sister and I like 6 of them (she made them too!) and decorated my room in them. Little did I know the freakish resemblance to a really scary doll named Chucky.

heh. Not that I'd know. I can't watch a horror flick to save my life.

But this.

This is the masterpiece of them all.

Please note the cross eyed lion. And the "grass," that he is upon. And the REALLY tall tree with the...wait a minute, what is that? Oh yes. A monkey. I, as a kindergartner knew that primates were WAY beyond my artistic ability. So I drew a gingerbread man and dubbed it a "monkey."

The best part though, is that when we picked this piece up at the end of the year, the art teacher had titled it "Charlie's Confusion."

Apparently he looks confused.

And apparently his name is Charlie.

Who knew?

Hilarious are some of the drawings that kids do!! I have always thought the same thing about Raggedy Ann and Chucky, even though I have never seen that movie!
