(Ian and I in December of 2005- predating. He was home from VA for 2 weeks and we took a trip to our favorite beach. And, we built a traditional German fortress. Yup.)

4 Years ago last night.....

Ian took me to see a Magic Basketball game.

We both hated basketball.

But we pretended to like it, if only to spend the evening together.

We drove home in (what I thought was) a comfortable silence.

I was lost in daydreams of when/if Ian would ever ask me out.

We pulled into my driveway and Ian began talking to me.

My eyes were wide as saucers as I realized he was asking me out....and it was even better than my dreams!

I said yes.

Then, With a smile on my face, I hopped out of the car and ran inside {to tell my mom and sister, of course!} leaving a VERY confused Ian in the car.

(Ian and I, on the left, also prior to when we were dating. But we were pretty fond of each other at this point!)

4 years ago today...

Ian came late to church, due to the confusion.

I saved him a seat in service and he awkwardly sat next to me.

He texted me after church, asking if we could meet up before {night} church.

So we met.

At a state park.

And went for a walk.

And talked.

And ignored the elephant in the room/forest.

For an hour and a half.

Then Ian finally broke down and asked me if we were dating!

ha!

I said yes, most definitely.

Then we spent the next hour coming up with a "business plan," for our dating. It was going to be long distance in four days, so we knew we had to be ready for some difficulties. We also went into it knowing that we were dating with a purpose....marriage!

Ha! I think it's funny how he asked you out on a date after you guys went to a basketball game, alone, just to spend time together. Hmm, sounds like a date to me! Cute story - I loved it!
