Our Windows Are Clean

And other miscellaneous tidbits:

Ian and his mom went outside to clean our windows for the first time since we moved in. They threw a bucket of water on the outside and it flooded my family room. I guess it isn't sealed so well. Surprise, surprise.

Also, I'm sure the women in our compound (and their live in maids,) had a good laugh while watching Ian and his mom try to clean our windows and doors without a hose. It's a losing battle living in the desert.

I made a pumpkin cake today with cream cheese frosting. It's so good, I might be planning to sneak a piece in the middle of the night. Or maybe not. Who knows.

Sophia has horrible, gut wrenching gas issues. Poor baby! She's been on prescription for it since the day she was born, that's how bad it is, but now, that doesn't even seem to be working. I just wrapped her in her swaddle with a "belly bag," and it seems to be helping. Any other tips to help relieve it?

The "belly bag" that I am using is actually one of Grace's bean bags. I figured it was the same as what the belly bag instructions were- fabric, sewn in a pouch, filled with rice, heated for 20-45 seconds, put in swaddle on baby's belly.

My computer is about to die. It got messed up when our house flooded last year, and the battery was shot. Then, I figured out afterwards that the connection between the plug and the computer is broken as well. Now my computer can not be moved and shuts off by itself 3-4 times a day. It's awesome. I'm hoping it makes it until after Christmas time. That would be nice.

Grace has taken to calling out "No, mommy!" when she is playing around OR when she is crying and whining. Sometimes it is cute, sometimes it is heartbreaking.

I've never celebrated Halloween, but I believe this year will be a first for me. I'm totally planning to dress Grace up and take her to a party at a local park. Can't wait to see her in her cute little costume!

Gas issues are so tough! Are you nursing? If so you might try cutting out all dairy in your diet, which could be making the problem worse (though not always the root of it). I've had to do that with both of mine for the first 4-6 months. It can take 2 weeks for all dairy to completely be out of your milk, too.

Another thing to check is Gripe Water. Not sure of it's availability over there, but it helped tons with gas problems in mine. Has fennel, chamomile, and peppermint in it I believe.

Re: nursing, you may know this already...but if baby tends to drink a lot of foremilk and not wait around for the rich fatty hind milk, it can make gas issues a million times worse. You can email me for more detail if you're nursing and not familiar with this so I don't take up your whole comment box. ;)

Annnd, probiotics! You can either take high doses yourself, or you can add some to expressed milk or formula and give directly to her. There are usually goat milk formulas available. Again, not sure of the availability where you are, but something to look into!

This may be a dumb question but how can you tell Sophia has gas? G had colic for 7 weeks...could it have been gas?

Have you tried Gripe Water? I have tons if you need some! I went through the exact same thing with my computer! I finally had to break down and get a new one because it was driving me crazy. I hope yours hangs on!
